Time to hang up your Victoria’s Secret bra, the bra for the mature Millennial is the new contemporary Birdsong bra line at Bare Necessities! My whole life I have worn VS bras, but I never felt like sizing was consistent across all styles. I always felt restricted and uncomfortable, and the lift was either too much or not enough. Besides, those bras are for pre-teens, not your boss babe self!
But the game has changed with Birdsong bras exclusive to Bare Necessities. I feel more comfortable and confident wearing a bra that’s grown-up and sexy. The over the phone bra fitting was so informative and helpful. In case you didn’t know 40-50% of women aren’t wearing the right bra size. My Bra Fit Expert was very knowledgeable about the fit and style of the bras, and I felt completely comfortable the entire time discussing my size and shape. Make sure to have a flexible measuring tape on hand to give her all of your sizing details and ensure correct measurements.
I tried three different bras from the Birdsong line: The Emerson Balconette bra, the Ayla T-shirt bra, and the Lily Comfort T-shirt bra. I got a 32DD in all bras (my normal size) except for the Ayla where I sized down a cup size. My personal favorite was the Emerson Balconette. This bra isn’t necessarily a pushup, but it still gives good support and lift. The band and underwire are very comfortable as well. It isn’t suffocating and the underwire didn’t cut into me the way other bras have in the past. The style of the bra is very tasteful, yet still cool.
- Moderate coverage
- Lightweight foam-line underwire cups
- Vertical seems to help create a lifted look
- My favorite!
- More coverage
- Less cleavage
- Great support
- I would size down one cup size
- Less coverage than the Ayla…
- But more coverage than the Emerson Balconette
- More cleavage
- Memory foam cups
Black bras don’t have to be covered; there are still ways to style them tastefully for a little sex appeal. I styled the Emerson Balconette bra with three different nighttime looks:
- Button down with the top buttons unbuttoned
- Sheer top, allows the bra to be seen without showing much skin
- Open knit sweater, complement the top by letting the bra be seen
I love that I don’t have to sacrifice comfort for sexiness with Birdsong bras, and I’m never turning back! I’d love to know which look and which style bra is your favorite!
