My Weekend Stay at The Belmond Charleston Place Hotel
Happy Monday, friends! Last weekend I had the opportunity to stay at The Belmond Charleston Place for a weekend away in one of my favorite Southern cities. Charleston has always been a place that is near and dear to my heart because it is where Drew and I got married nearly four years ago. Not to mention, The Belmond Charleston Place is also the hotel we stayed at on our wedding night because it is hands down the best Hotel in Charleston.
The hotel screams luxury from the helpful bellmen, to the pristine rooms with deluxe linens and gorgeous decor, to the extravagant amenities in the Club Area, Spa and Fitness Center. You will no doubt feel like you are living as a queen (or a king). The rooms and your stay are a bit of a splurge, but it is worth every penny when you’re in need of a relaxing weekend away. This hotel makes for a perfect stay for a celebration such as a birthday, anniversary, or the biggest celebration of all, your wedding. I can’t recommend it enough, and I am so excited to tell you more about my stay.
The Rooms
The spacious rooms at Belmond Charleston Place are modern mixed with old-world classic style. You will definitely feel like you are living the life of Southern charm. The beds are so comfortable, that you may want to forgo brunch for room service breakfast. Vanessa and I made this decision, and we were not disappointed. Make sure to request a room that has gorgeous views of Charleston. We always make an effort to request rooms off King Street to take in views of all the busy tourists in the streets below.
In addition, we had the opportunity to experience the club level rooms this trip and it was a fantastic add-on experience. They serve a full breakfast buffet in the morning with lite bites, appetizers and a full-bar throughout the day. It was a great experience after coming back to the hotel from touring all day for a quick drink for happy hour. We also found that we spent a lot less on food during our trip thanks to our many stops in the club level area throughout the day.
The Amenities
Service
Always the most impressive part of my stay at The Belmond Charleston Place is the level of service you receive during your stay. They truly make the experience more flawless and relaxing because the staff always go out of their way to make sure you have the best time while in Charleston. Our bellman, Jimmy (yes we are on first name basis), made a point to check in with us several times throughout our stay asking if we needed water/ice brought to the room, or even simply a recommendation for dinner.
Not to mention, I also love how accommodating the concierge service is. They always know the best places/restaurants to visit, and somehow they’re always able to get reservations even after I’ve tried to book one myself with no luck. I think, small things like this truly up the experience in my mind, and can have a big impact on the quality of your stay.
Overall, I can’t recommend The Belmond Charleston Place Hotel enough for your next stay in Charleston, especially if you want to live like a queen :). It is definitely one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and it’s always my go-to when visiting Charleston.
My Quick List of Fun Things to do in Charleston
I have been to Charleston several times and always get questions on some of my favorite things to do in the city, so I thought I’d provide you a quick short list of my recommendations. As always, please reach out with any questions you may have, I’m always happy to help!
- Take a visit to Rainbow Row and go on a walk/run down the battery by the waterfront
- Grab the best seafood at Hank’s Seafood Restaurant
- Go shopping at all the amazing boutiques down King Street – some my favorites: Luna’s, Copper Penny, Dress Up Boutique
- Visit the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays in the main square (near Francis Marion Hotel)
- Sunday Brunch at Hall’s Chophouse (they have a live opera singer who performs)
- Happy Hour at The Cocktail Club for the best craft cocktails followed by dinner at Macintosh on the lower level
- If visiting during the Summer, spend a day on folly beach or go for a sunset sail on the water
- Visit a local brewery if you like craft beer, I recommend Westbrook, Holy City or Revelry
