Hi friends! I just returned from #RStheCon in Dallas and with all the Instagram shop changes, I thought it would be smart to round up all my looks from the conference in a single blog post. To get shop details for any of my looks, simply click on the product in each ‘widget’ below the image. If you haven’t heard yet, Instagram changed that backend API (took away some permissions from tech developers), and because of that you will no longer receive those shoppable e-mails with accessible product links like you have in the past. Don’t worry, though! There are still really easy ways to shop my looks, so I wanted to share all the details in case you’re still dying for the product e-mails (though, I’m sure some of you are thankful they’re no longer crowding your inboxes). Totally understandable! 🙂
I learned a lot of things at the conference, mostly related to blogging dos and don’ts, but I also learned a lot about how to educate consumers (you!), and some new developments that will soon be rolling out to you in the @liketoknow.it app if they haven’t already. I’m excited to share those details with you, and thought I’d lay them out in this post.
First of all, there are currently 3 ways to shop my looks, and most of those ways haven’t changed as a result of the Instagram update. Here you go:
- You can always visit the SHOP page on my blog, and plus side is you don’t have to be registered with @liketoknow.it to shop my Instagram posts there. This page is accessible via Instagram, too. Simply click the link in my bio, and again click the ‘shop my instagram’ link! Click on any image (it will look like my Instagram feed so should be easy to find the post you are looking for), and shop details will be available for you there.
- Download and follow me in the @liketoknow.it app! This is great if you want to be the first to know about posts before items sell out. I always post what is going up on Instagram here first, sometimes even hours before. Be the first to have those product details by following my account there (@baileyschwartz). Also – I sometimes post exclusive content there that won’t ever be posted on Instagram, such as try-on sessions. This will allow you to see first-available, behind the scenes content that no one else will have access to unless they’re following me in the app.
- You can still get product details via e-mail! Here’s how: simply screenshot (rather than like) any image and it will trigger the same e-mail to be sent to you.
Now back to the app! I learned a tonnnn about this at the conference, and I am so excited to share with you! First of all, they recently released a wishlist function in the app that allows you to save your favorite products into a folder. It is the 4th icon at the bottom of your app indicated by a heart. To favorite a product and add to the list simply tap the product and click wish list. The product will be automatically added to your hearts folder. If you’re not quite sure about an item and don’t want to purchase at that exact moment, you can go back to the items at anytime to purchase. I loveeee this function, because I’m definitely a think about it shopper. Do I really neeeeeed this!? The answer is usually yes, but I love the option to think about it. 🙂 You’ll soon be able to categorize these products into your own folders as well – that’s a feature coming down the road!
Secondly, I was told they’re starting to unroll some amazing features in the near future. One thing I was really excited about was search functionality in the app. For instance, if you have a specific need, you can search polka dot crop top and see a bunch of influencers rocking different polka dot crop tops. This is great for style inspiration and allows you to pick which crop top is your favorite by seeing it on different body types. I’m really excited about this for myself because I always find that I have specific things I am looking for and don’t want to continue to scroll down a feed because chances are I won’t find it.
Last but not least, I wanted to mention the clean up your screenshots function. A lot of people don’t like taking screenshots of instagram pictures because it clogs up their photo storage. Good news! They released a function in the settings of your all where you can click ‘Clean Up Your Screenshots.’ Doing so will erase any screenshot that you’ve taken and the app has matched to a shoppable post. Do this once a week and you’ll never clog up your phone storage. I’m always fighting my phone for storage so I loveee this function!
I truly believe that the @liketoknow.it app will be the future way to shop. It’s so much easier getting outfit inspiration from real people rather than models on retail websites. For me, I want real life inspiration that I know is going to look good on me. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you download the app available in the app store and start following all your favorite bloggers! If you have any questions about the process, I am happy to help, simply DM me or leave me a comment at the bottom of this post! Xoxo.
