Today marks the beginning of Valentine’s Week on HTS. Each day on the blog I’ll be sharing a different Valentine’s Day look paired with a coordinating date night (or day) idea. I thought this would be a creative way to make light of the holiday most, if not all, of us dread. Either you dislike the holiday because you don’t have a significant other to share it with, or you feel Valentine’s Day puts too much pressure on you to pick out a gift that does not disappoint, but is also just right so that it doesn’t “over-do” it either.
Drew and I started dating in January, so I struggled our first Valentine’s Day because I didn’t want to seem like the crazy girl who went all out on a gift, but I also didn’t want him to question why I didn’t get him anyyyythinggg?!? So, I settled for Chocolate-covered strawberries. After all, what guy doesn’t like chocolate? I’m lucky drew ended up being a chocoholic! (Why do we do this to ourselves?) With that said, I thought what better way to kick off the week than celebrating with an outfit for a date with your “galentine.”
Going out with the girls on Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Early on in mine and Drew’s relationship, we didn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day because he was an auditor and the beginning of the year was always his busy season. I was lucky if I even saw him in the daylight, much less spent an hour or two with him for a date night. So that usually meant heading to the movies with the girls, or better yet, spending a night out on the town. If I were going out on the town (which hardly ever happens anymore, #domesticprobs :)), this outfit would definitely be my look of choice. It’s edgy (mostly black and leather), but the sheer lavender top and hot pink lipstick (my favorite!) helps to feminize the look a little bit. I have to admit, the sheer top is a little out of my comfort zone these days, but “back in the day” (ha) I would have no doubt rocked this outfit. What do you think about this look? Appropriate for a date with your galentine?
I hope you’ll stay tuned each day this week for a different Valentine’s look paired with some fun date night ideas. Thanks for stopping by!
